Our client is a UK based manufacturer of speciality chemicals and polymers.

Job Description

Exciting opportunity to lead all manufacturing activities at a ‘famous’ site in the south of the UK manufacturing high value monomers and polymers. The company has PE backing and after recent rationalization now wishes to appoint an experienced manufacturing leader to drive the next stage of manufacturing and operational excellence. The role reports to the CEO / Site director and has considerable scope for advancement.

Job Requirements

General Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline. Ideally, you will also have a master’s degree in engineering, Chemistry or Business Administration (MBA).
  • Significant leadership experience within chemical manufacturing operations managing complex continuous and/or batch chemical processes.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (desirable)
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt (desirable)
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent safety qualification (desirable)

Experience Required

  • You must have a minimum of 10 years’ leadership experience within the chemical manufacturing sector, batch and continuous processing.
  • Experience in specialty chemicals, monomer production, polymers, ophthalmic materials or related sectors would be highly desirable, as would any experience supporting products used in medical devices or highly regulated applications.
  • Proven experience managing manufacturing teams in a regulated process industry environment.
  • Demonstrable success delivering operational, financial and safety improvements.
  • Experience managing multiple production assets and support functions.
  • Strong understanding of process safety management systems.
  • Experience within COMAH, Seveso or equivalent major hazard facilities.
  • Experience leading operational excellence transformations is desirable.
  • Other valuable experiences include; Process Safety Management (PSM), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), Management of Change (MOC), Root Cause Analysis and Lean Manufacturing.
