Job Description

Reporting to the CEO, this is a hands-on role within a rapidly growing specialty chemical production business.  The Technical Manager will have overall responsibility for all Technical aspects of the business including the strategic development, formulation and design of new products from bench to production.

They will be a key liaison with Sales to establish customer requirements and contact for customers with technical queries. Discussions with key raw material suppliers on the technical requirements of both new and old key raw materials. You will also be responsible for and ensure that current chemical, food safety and other relevant regulatory standards are followed.

Job Requirements

• PhD chemist – preferred

• BSc/ MSc or equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Emulsion formulation, Surfactant Chemistry.

• Proven experience of Technical Management (people and Lab management).

• Proven experience in product formulation from Laboratory to Production

• Project management skills and experience with an ability to plan and execute effectively.

• Excellent oral and written communication abilities. This includes communication at all levels of the organisation.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and under your own initiative

• Problem solving skills, analytical skills and the ability to make decisions quickly

• Knowledge of process improvement and validation

• Experience of working directly with customers and suppliers, and of complaint management and resolution experience

• Broad background in specialty chemical manufacturing.

• Knowledge of regulatory standards relevant to the chemical industry in UK, EU & ROW

• The ability to investigate and identify trends in the market place

• Level of commercial acumen

• Willingness to work in a hands on capacity where necessary

• Willingness to travel internationally with work
