Our client operates the largest single-site bioethanol plant in Europe.  Since 2012, ethanol output from the biorefinery has tripled, and additional products have been introduced with applications across energy, biochemicals, and nutrition. In recent years they have expanded and hold interests in several Anaerobic Digestion (AD) plants across Europe. As a developer, owner, and operator of AD facilities, they convert feedstock to biogas and ultimately renewable natural gas. 

Job Description

Our client is looking to recruit a Head of Biogas Operations responsible for leading the biogas business. The new colleague will ensure the operation of the plants and will lead troubleshooting of technical issues to minimise downtime. They will be responsible for maintaining contact with relevant authorities, grid operators, and distributors.

As the Head of Biogas Operations will be responsible multiple European sites you must be able to travel to visit these sites.

This role will report directly to the Engineering & Technology Manager. 

Job Requirements

• A master’s degree in biotechnology (or similar) is preferable. Applicants with education in other technical subjects such as engineering will be considered. 
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a leading role in the anaerobic digestion industry. 
• Deep knowledge of the biogas value chain – experience in digestate treatment and biogas upgrading. 
• Proven leadership track record, capable of building teams to achieve a common objective. 
• Fluent in English.
