Job Description

Inspirational leadership role to drive production process technology and product innovation of our client’s largest business, chemical additives, with sales of more than $2bn. You will be a disruptor who can drive and inspire a large technical team to renewed success in a highly competitive market. Technical leadership experience in the chemical industry is required, and you should be commercially aware and able to lead the technology function to achieve business and financial targets. The ideal person will be: 1. A technology disrupter with strengths in production process technology; 2. A strong leader (rather than manager) with proven organizational development capabilities; 3. Business savvy, focused on financial impact; 4. Have high energy / impact. Location is flexible within the US, could be home-based (with travel) or based at the East coast HQ.

Job Requirements

• Through collaboration with business, site, and technology team resources; develop, manage, and ensure the technical excellence of a portfolio of process technology and product R&D projects aligned with strategy and designed to meaningfully extend our advantage versus competitors
• Demonstrated ability to develop strong partnerships with marketing and digital technology
• Drive sustainable growth in production process knowledge by encouraging interaction with external resources, collaboration with colleagues, development of new lines of research, and thorough documentation of key learnings
• Provide clear vision for the Technology organization and a plan to achieve it
• Set high expectations to create a culture of and a reputation for top tier performance
• Play vital role in setting business strategy and develop a Technology strategy that enables it
• Serve as an integrator between Technology, Manufacturing and Marketing
• Build a strong technology organization that also serves as the feeder to other functions
• Create a culture of innovation that pushes the boundaries and celebrates and learns from failures as well as successes
• Drive deep process understanding and proliferation of technology across the circuit
• Provide clear priorities and goals for the technology organization and ensure alignment across functions
• Ensure the Technology organization is delivering on its objectives and take appropriate actions to address any deficiencies
• Ensure technical excellence in the work being performed
• Ensure a strong IP strategy
